saturated with colour...

It is a bit of a trek, but anyone who is in the vicinity of New Mexico must check out the forthcoming photography exhibition entitled 'Saturated with Colour' at the Verve Gallery, Santa Fe.

I am mesmerized by the work of Californian based artist Jeffery Becom who has travelled the world capturing colour and in particular this latest collection of images which are featured along with 2 x other artist in this exhibition.

Becom considers his photographs to be documentary: the colors, subjects and details captured as found. His signature subject and style is the sensuous use of color to transform architectural imagery into lush, painterly, colorist compositions.

Becom is quoted in the run up to the event to say:

“... India is synonymous with brilliant colors, myriad faiths and some of the earliest societies on earth and that colour and faith profoundly envelop Indian life on all levels.

His images taken in Rajasthan, India are phenomenal and puts the photos I took there last month to shame...It excites me so much to think that I have only scratched the surface of this incredible country & that there is so much more to discover as Lala Moon takes shape.

'Saturated with Colour' runs from 9th July (opening reception) until 28th August 2010.

pia ulin....

Pia Ulin is a swedish photographer who specialises in shooting interiors - her work embraces life and her lifestyle images breathe energy...
I love these particular shots from Morroco - & as I have featured time & time again it is the simple white finish for the walls and then the furnishings which make the space. So simple but so very effective.

Colour, colour, colour - it needs little explanation and speaks volumes without the need to mutter a word.

These images all from Mexico show how anything goes really! The use of vibrant colours somehow lifts the spirits of all around and creates a warm and inviting feeling.

I particularly like the pink and red - you need to brave to pull this off but as the other images show with a little imagination the sky is the limit...

take me away.........

Photography is something I would love to do more of... but sadly, I just don't think I am cut out for it....
The intention is there. My camera often accompanies me, but inevitably it never leaves it's pouch.
I admire those who snap away and capture the moment where ever they are.....

Today is one of those days when I feel like being lost in a series of photos - imagining and dare I say it dreaming of being whisked a way to a place like Filicudi, one of 8 islands of the north east coast of Sicily.

Just from looking at these images you can feel the sea breeze in your hair and smell the sea air... The crispness of the decor, the simplicity of the design, the use of colour to add that finishing touch.... I'm off. See you there!
