beautiful astenangos....

la viva home bedspreads/coverings - 5 1/2' by 6' $325 via

astenangos make great headboards too

Jacaranda stools - tule with separate astenango cushion $175 usd via

Astenangos made of 100% unbleached muslin with cotton embroidery thread were crafted by the Otomi Indians from the mountains of the Mexican state of Hidalgo.

Necessity is still the mother of invention, and this is exactly how the stunning astenangos evolved - The embroideries were created by Mexico's Otomí (Ñah-ñu) Indians. At a time of great economic hardship. The Otomí drew upon their artistic history to create a sustainable enterprise. With saturated colors, graphic floral and animal patterns, and bold use of positive and negative space, contemporary astenangos present a striking example of modern ingenuity merged with ancient tradition.

The astenangos featured here are available via la viva home and jacaranda. Both companies have great textiles. In particular la viva home which I have featured before ref. aguayos...click here to remind yourselves!
